Before the drought in the Western Cape started to get serious, this little duck lived on top of our toilet flushing mechanism as a reminder not to flush unnecessarily. ‘If it’s yellow, let it mellow’ was becoming a common refrain in Cape Town.
Soon we stopped using municipal water for the loo all together, flushing instead with harvested grey water. The duck was out of a job.
Lesson learnt: You can breath new life into an old duck!
