Once I’d finished painting them on day 21, I just dumped the tulips in this too tall vase and forgot about them.
Before long they started to droop and bend, and soon I was in love.
Apparently the trick is to fit the entire subject on the one board, who knew?
As if the flowers weren’t difficult enough, figuring out those leaves was a mission!
Not to mention the glass and water.
Eventually I stopped painting because I was too tired to continue. Thank goodness. I would have over-painted the crap out of it otherwise.
Lesson learnt: Time permitting, let paintings lie for a few days before finishing. Sometimes they’re done, and you’re too close to realise it.
